Lectures, readings and discourse
The Museum Arbeitswelt is a place that zooms in on topics regarding society and social policy, enabling critical and high-quality discussions of contemporary issues. The opening of our political workshop DEMOS in 2010 marked the beginning of an event series that invites participants to get involved with educational and socio-political issues as well as topics related to science, culture and the media: the DEMOS evening lectures. The format of this series varies from event to event. It features classic lectures as much as presentations, townhall meetings, discussions or talks with contemporary witnesses. The DEMOS evening lectures are designed as a forum to debate new perspectives, explore potential scopes of action and create visions for the future together with renowned lecturers with various backgrounds and areas of practice. Adding to the museum’s exhibitions, this creates a further opportunity to deal with the challenges of our times. Past guests include Karim El-Gawhary, Erich Hackl, Gudrun Harrer, Maria Hofstätter, Ruth Klüger, Konrad-Paul Liessmann, Corinna Milborn, Robert Misik, Oskar Negt, Anton Pelinka, Ari Rath, Susanne Scholl, Stephan Schulmeister, Günter Wallraff and Harald Welzer.
